I am working on the heater hoses and I had the heater core by-passed with a 3/4 inch hose.....no problem.
I now reroute the heater hoses to the heater core and reattach both hoses. Now on the head the heater hose will not seal.....reminder it was fine 20 minutes ago http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...n_rolleyes.gif Now I cut the new heater hose for sure fit, use three different clamps....to no advail.... I get my trusty mirror and a flashlight out and take a peek that the nipple on the head.....it now has a pin hole in the base of it and that is where the anti-freeze is shooting out of http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...icon_frown.gif.........just my luck! Repair....I am thinking.......can this part be replaced? |

Nipple is still made by GM and costs something like $15. I can't remember the part number otherwise I would provide it, but I bet someone here has it. It's easy to do, just take a chisel and beat the old one out. Grind a slight lip on the new one and use a socket to gently tap it in. The new ones are slightly different\thinner than the old ones, but work the same.

Hi Troy
The dealerships call this a Fitting, G.M. # 499744, group 8.866 The 5/8 hose fits to this one. My frinds think I'm Crazyfor keeping old boxes! Good luck changing it! http://forums.performanceyears.com/g.../icon_cool.gif |
I got one from Pontiac Dude.I told Danee(sp)that I had a BIG order http://forums.performanceyears.com/g.../icon_razz.gif and she told no problem they could handle it.LOL!I think it was $25 with shipping.I took the head to a machine shop and it took ALOT of persuasion to get the old one out.
