Does anyone know where I can find a set of 3.08s for an 8.2 BOP for a 66 GTO. We have 3.55s with a 455 up front and with all that torque we would like to cruise down the highway a little bit better. I have been looking and cannot find anything lower than a 3.55. Any other places would help or am I stuck looking at junkyards?
thanks

I tried randys ring and pinion and richmond gear. they both start at 3.55s

This is a real problem. I know of no one who makes anything less than a 3.55 for a 8.2. If got 3.08s and they are a greay gear. I need a posi unit but the only ones Ive found are for 3.31's and up. Aparently if you arent strickly going racing you are out of luck. http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...icon_frown.gif

I cant leave anything alone.

I'm about to switch from 2.93 to 3.55's on my 67 389 with an 8.2 If you can wait til after the holidays, I'll make you a good deal on the ring & pinion. Cruises nice on the highway, but I never drive it on the highway, that is why I'm switching. 3.08 is an odd ball gear for Pontiac 8.2s. They jumped mostly from 2.93 right to 3.31 or 3.55s

I believe the only gears numerically lower that will fit you current carrier are 3.36 gears.

Carriers went 2.56-2.78,/ 2.93,3.08 and 3.23 then 3.36,3.55.3.90,4.33. I got this info from the 67 service manual.

I have a set of 2.56's and a set of 3.23's will sell have a factory pos. unit and a carrier whith spider gears but the spiders are welded. email if interested
