I installed the carpet on my '67 and in the quarter door panel area, glued and ran the carpet up about an inch. As I get ready to install the rear door panel, there's a flap of vinyl at the bottom, about 1 1/2" wide, which looks like it wants glued to the floor. Which means the carpet would need trimmed to the panel as opposed to being behind it like I have it now.

Is this correct to trim the carpet this way?

The vinyl flap goes back up behind the side panel, not glued to the floor. Leave a little extra carpet like you have done.
