Looking for a good source for production numbers and options for the early 70s Formulas. I saw a reply by 73wu3 in a post that in 1973 (I think),
From June 1994 HPP Formula 350 4,771 Formula 400 4,622 Formula 455 M/T 227 Formula 455 A/T 503 Formula SD M/T 10 Formula SD A/T 33 Trans Am 455 M/T 1,420 Trams Am 455 A/T 3,130 Trans Am SD M/T 72 Trans Am SD A/T 536 533 Formulas had the Ram Air hood Looking for other years and option availability also. I guess I could go out and find dealer brochures but would like to see if I can by one book or something. I'm lokking through back posts know. |

Try to find the "Illustrated Firebird Buyers Guide" by John Gunnell.

the firebird buyers guide doesn't give any production numbers - the only source of production numbers I have found is the 'numbers matching' series in HPP.

The book i'm talking about dose have production numbers. One thing it does lack though is a break down on Formula numbers. It gives the numbers for autos and manuals but not engine option sizes.

I haven’t seen the book at any of the local stores but I’m really more interested in options and styling changes in the interior of the car. I will most likely end up with a 350 or a 400 car but if the prices aren’t what I was thinking of I just might build a clone if I find a solid standard bird.

I think as more people get on the Formula train and realize that you could get the same performance, with a true RAM AIR hood and without the Mr T styling these cars will follow in the Trans Am pricing. Don't build a clone - pricing is still low enough to find a quality Formula for little more than a base car these days. |
