Are the drums on my 66 GTO orginally painted red? If so how bright of red?

Drums were painted red on all cars with rally I wheels. Exactly what color red, I couldn't tell you. I've never even noticed it in the GTO restoration guide come to think of it.

I though only the aluminum drums were red?

Chris is correct, only the aluminum drum option was painted red ll the best bigpop ps call Steve Lucas the GTOAA tech advisor a friend,he may know or steer you to someone who can help with the color/shade of red.Good luck!!!!

Chris & Big Pop are both correct and I believe (I'm not going to even say that I'm correct) that the aluminum drums only came with the sintered metallic linings. They could be ordered as an option or came standard if you gott the close ratio four speed and the 3.90, 4.11 or 4.55 rear end.

Sorry, I stand corrected. Looked in book again, only aluminum drum cars with rally I's in 1966 were painted red. (pg 217 photo on bottom of page)
