On a 70 GTO, does the Z-bar use just a ball threaded in the block or is it something different?

On my 69 GTO (I think 70's are the same), the z bar or countershaft is a two piece assembly consisting of a large "L" shaft that connects to the pedal push rod and a smaller swivel assembly that connects to the clutch fork push rod. The swivel part of the assembly rides on a sleeve that is attached to the side of the block with a 12 point bolt and a couple of washers. Our host has an exploded diagram of the z bar assembly in their catalog on page 104. Unfortunately, it looks like they have discontinued the bolt although it looks like they have most of the other parts that make up the assembly. AMES has the same diagram in their catalog and they show the bolt as an item that they stock (pg 164).

It's attached by a special 12 point bolt that is installed when the z-bar is apart.

BTW - Is the car in your avatar the one built by the Borchert's?

Chiefpontiac, yes it is. I bought the car from Wendall 6 years ago. By the way, does anybody have the part that we are talking about? I am in need of this piece and the vendors for repops say June. Thanks, Steve.
