hey guys,
another new guy question... I found a '70 YD 400 engine with small valve 16's that I'm going to have rebuilt. I don't want the 2bbl intake it has. Along with a more aggressive cam, bigger valves, ported n polished heads, n bored .030 over block, I have a 4bbl intake out of a '74 YL 400 engine I can use. Will I encounter any or big problems in doing so? Any help appreciated...thx.

Should swap over OK. Just make sure that you have the correct intake manifold gaskets that seal both the intake and the heads. I'd also go with an older intake if possible. Doesn't the 1974 use an EGR and has a restriction to the secondaries?

not sure, about the egr and secondaries... still learning about my own car. thanks

THE 74 HAS THE EGR.BETTER OFF GETTING A 72 AND DOWN OR A PERFORMER MANIFOLD

Use a factory 1967 to 1971 manifold. They work as well as a Performer and they are cheap. 1972 and newer wont easily fit your heads. Stick with the Q-jet for good off the line performance and top end power.

i have a few of the cast iron pre 1970 intakes, but i would still recommend a performer over the cast, if not for any performance gain at least a big weight difference
