I have a 1975 pontiac 400 motor without a windage tray. The dipstick interefere's with the crank. I'm told Pontiac had a dipstick guide tube bracket that mounts to the #3 bearing cap. I need to get one of these brackets before I assemble the motor. What do they look like and where can I find one?

Thanks for the help,

Vrroom

You're missing the curved lower dipstick. It goes through the windage tray. It routes the dipstick to the rear toward the oil pickup. Why no windage tray?

Call AMES at 1-800-421-2637 ask for Quint. The part number you need is FN419L. 1972-1979 V-8 oil dipstick tube in pan with bracket for use with motors without windage trays. There are different upper tubes and dipsticks depending on if you have a/c or not. Tell Quint what you have and he will take care of you.
