going to have to modify valley pan a bit I think.
maby think about a lifter bore brace..cant hurt those roller lifters are a bit heavier than a stock lifter I think. Might have to change push rod length. Gota be sure heads are set up for it. etc,... Mike |
Brandn is this a solid or hydraulic roller? If hydraulic use an earlier pan (65-71) will work without modification. Also use 8.650 or 8.675 lenght pushrods(be sure to check for proper valve train geometry). Some cams require the use of bronze or composite distributor gear(except Crane). If using a solid roller, good insurance to brace the lifter bore as Louisiana has stated.

I'm going to go with a hyd.roller.I've been told in the past that i will have to change my valves to run a roller cam is this true or just inexperienced info?I have #62 heads and they have the 2.11/1.77 valves already.

With a solid roller, I would use some VERY GOOD new valves, simply because of the spring pressures you'll be using. It would not be a bad idea with a HR, either. These cams make more power by moving the valve open and closed more quickly - hence you need more spring pressure to CONTROL the valve.
If you go HR, do yourself a favor and go peak around on the LS-1, LT-1 and 5.0 messege boards and pay attention to the cam sizes those guys use to run 11 & 10's. The 0.050 specs are surprisingly small. Don't use a bigger cam than you need too ;-) |
Talk to Ken Keefer. "Pontiac Dude". He can spec out a custom hyd roller for your needs.
I run a small hyd roller he recommended and it fit my needs perfectly. |
