I should be getting my new KRE Heads any day, and I have Comp Hydraulic Roller lifters. I was wondering if anyone has a similar setup and were the pushrods stock length? I will be checking valvetrain geometry when I put it together, so I was just getting antsy. Thanks!

With any non-stock build-up, check length with an adjustable pushrod by either buying one or making your own.
Smith Bros. makes pushrods in any length you need.

Where do you get Smith Brothers pushrods?

Comp hydraulic rollers are much taller than stock, so a custom pushrod will be required. Usually, they are much shorter, say in the 8.6" range. The KRE head may change that, based on thier setup height and valve length,etc.

Comparing to "stock" length pushrods for a hyd flat tappet lifter ?

Hyd roller lifters typically take a much different length pushrod than a hyd flat tappet lifter.

I was just wondering. The plunger is contersunk way down into the lifter so I thought they might be trying to achieve the same length between the cup and the rocker.

How can you check the length pushrod you need with a hydraulic lifter? And what are the chances of finding a solid roller with exactly the same height as the hydraulic ones I am going to use?

Is there a way of imobilizing the plunger so that it simulates a pumped up lifter?

I just did one last week. The Comps make it difficult to do anything with, as far as immobilizing, because the rivet for the connecting bar keeps you from getting the lifter apart. Nothing else I could find was the exact same height, so I used a VERY light valve spring for the mock-up. I just watched to make sure it didnt start to move the plunger. It seemed to work O.K. - Bill -

I have the same setup with scorpian roller rockers and comp stock length 455 pushrods worked out to the right length. I was very concerned because the Hyd roller lifter appears to be much taller but the plunger is recessed quite a bit. KRE sent me these pushrods with the heads and rockers and everything checked OK when it was assembled.
