I just recently completed replacing a trashed 4-speed with a rebuilt one. Same Muncie wide ratio.
The previous owner installed the transmission crossmember wrong resulting in the trashed transmission and concaved wear on the driveshaft yolk.
I replaced the yolk with a similar dimensioned new one. However, with the crossmember properly attached to the top of the chassis flange, the
exposed portion of the yolk tube is greater than before. The bad yolk had about 1 1/4" of the tube exposed between the transmission and the
universal joints. It now is over 2". The total yolk tube length is 3 1/2".
I can't tell if the old owner shortened the driveshaft or what. Does anyone know the correct total length of the driveshaft (tube only) and the exposed
portion of the front yolk? I noticed there is a yolk available that is 1" lnger than the one I have.

I could be way off here but sounds like you have an auto trans drive shaft in there. I know they are different lenghts. I just don't rember measurements of each. I have one of each siting right by each other and one is longer. good luck.

Thanks for the info. My driveshaft tube length (without u joint pieces) is roughly 56".
What are the lengths of the different ones you have?

The standard trans shaft is 61 1/2 inches between the centers of the u joints. the auto trans shaft is 60 inches between the centers of the u joints. So it seems that you have an auto drive shaft in your manual trans car. a local drive sharft shop should be able to put a longer tube in there for you @ $200(newly balenced and no rust) hope this helped
