I have been having trouble with fuse blowing on my heater motor. It has a AG20 fuse and everytime I put one in the motor will run but the fuse blows out right away. If I jump the terminal on the fuse block with a piece of wire and alligator clips the wire gets warm very fast. This just started recently and was not a problem last winter. I don't drive it alot in the winter but I am just wondering what is going on. Any one have any ideas on what I could check?

Does the motor run at normal speed? If it is running noticably slower, it will draw more current and blow your fuse, get the wire hot, etc. Check for mechanical obstructions, dirty bearings, etc.

P.S. Sometimes the heater box gets loaded with leaves.

sounds like you've got a motor on it's way out. the bushings are probably worn out and letting the armature or the fan drag. mike

Will I need to remove the blower moter case to get the fan out ?

You should be able to remove it from the engine side. The fan motor bolts to the housing with a round plate on the front (engine side) of the blower housing. The book says to unbolt it, pull it out, and separate the motor from the impeller before removing both separately. There seems to be a lack of clearance around the inner fender and hood hinge to do it otherwise.
