I suppose this question relates to the RAIII manifolds? I suggest no gasket.

I suggest the composite metal gasket even for manifolds - to act as a poor thermal path to relatively hotter manifold conducting back to the head. Probably better than that factory stamped steel gasket.

Actually, what I was initially referring to was the "Header Headaches" article in the Oct. 2000 HPP issue. Step 2 reads "Make sure you have the proper side against the header..." I am wondering if this is referring to the cut out gasket being positioned wrong if reversed, or there actually being a certain side of the gasket that should face the head side and the other the header side?
But this info about no gasket at all is new to me and a concensus of "gasket" to "no gasket" users might prove interesting. |
on headers i use gaskets and on manifolds i don't. it seems the manifolds leak quicker if a gasket is installed. mike
