Hi,

I was looking for information on H-O Racing Specialties Turbo Force kits and found a post from 2003. Did Craig Hendrickson ever get this kit back out again? The reason I ask is that my uncle gave me a kit to sell that he purchased from them back in 1978. Other than the boxes being opened to see that every thing was there it’s the same as it arrived. He purchased it for his 76 TA with a 455 4-spd combo but couldn’t talk my Dad or my other uncle into installing it. When he sold the car he tried to sell the kit with it but the guy didn’t want it.

Better hold on to that kit.
Craig was working with John Clegg on resurrecting the Turboforce" unit, but have yet to hear on any progress since that 2003 PY topic.

I actually sent them an email to that address but haven’t heard anything yet. I asked them what kind of progress they were making and about replacement parts if needed.

Ed,

There are NO replacement parts available for these kits because up until
now I have decided to not make any further production. This, despite a
couple of articles in HPP magazine.

What do you guys think the kit is worth? It's like new and I also have all of the receipts and catalogs that came with the kit. I was going to put it on ebay but I don't know about that site sometimes.

If I owned it I would greatly prefer seeing it go to the original designer, especially as it appears to be unused. No idea what Craig would do with it but its unlikely he would resell it. I think it would be cool if he used it to help prototype a modern version. I know he asked if anyone had any original stuff last year when he was working on a prototype.

no idea of value. as far as effectiveness to use on your car, it should work as well as it would have back then

Its a comeplete kit, not just a turbo. Did any of the Macho's come with a 455 and a turbo?

The kit you have is what i need they used the ho racing kits on the macho t/as but it did not work very well every one that has had the turbo kit said it made them a dog and the car was faster with out it and there was an article in car and drive were they done a test on a turbo macho t/a and they said it was a dog. but my car came with it and I'm going to put it back just to make the car correct it going to be for show not race. let me know what you want email me [email protected]

I'm sure Craig is going to jump in here any minute,BUT,the turbo kits were NOT dogs when installed properly. In fact most cars would run in the mid 13s,an improvement of 2.5 to 3 full seconds of E.T. Somewhere in my vast warehouse I have a copy of the rebutal to the car & driver test detailing what was shortcut on the installation.The turbo kits required attention to detail and no deviation from the kit instructions.90% of the problems occured in the fuel delivery systems. People did not understand the then new and complex requirements of a boost compensated regulator and the necessity to have the regulator ported to the carb as close as possible to the fuel bowl itself. People just hooked up the regulator hose to any port that was convienent on the pressure bonnet or int. man. AND THE FUEL CURVE SUFFERED.

Ken can you post or is there an article on moddifing the holley regulator for boost/vac. ref.

PT-79 and others: Holley reg. mod.---
Pull the dome side from the reg.Seal the adj. screw with silicone. install a hose fitting in the dome.Re-assemble.connect ,(via vac. hose)to a port as close to the fuel bowl as possible.We used the carbon can port on the Q jet. I would use either the sight plug (make-a fitting) or the port where they tap for boost ref. power valve on a holley.
