Just wondering what kind of wax you guys have used on your car. I want that showroom shine.. I'm thinking about the Meguirars 3 step or the Meguirars Liquid Glass or Klasse. Do you use Random Orbitals to remove it?

You might want to consider using no wax. There is an alternate polish avaiable. It is polymer based and goes by the name of Zaino. I've used it for 3 years on my 3 cars. There is nothing else like it. I think it is easier to put on and remove compared to wax based products. The stuff is expensive but a little goes a long way. The less you use the better is works.

I just used the Mother's 3 step system on one of my daily drivers, a 93 grand am. It has 135,000 miles and I hadn't waxed it in over a year.

It came out awesome, I couldn't believe it. It even took out some swirls on the hood that no other wax had removed in 3 years.

Between steps 1 and 2 I used a clay bar to really get the contaminenets out.

I used a electric random orbit polisher to remove the 2nd and 3rd stages. Although with all the contours, it was really only good on the hood, roof, deck led and parts of the doors and fenders, I still did a lot of hand polishing.

I finished it with the buffing bonnet that came with the orbital, and there were no swirls marks and streaks when I was done.

Meguiar's has provided great results for me. Apply with a machine and take off by hand.

Blue Coral Carnauba Wax in a metal can. Same kind that our granddaddies used. None of that presoftened poofter wax, thank you. [img]tongue.gif[/img]

Old fashioned elbow grease is required to remove it, since the stuff dries like candle wax.

It lasts for well over a year, too.

...and for in-between waxing, use the EAGLE 1 WAX-N-DRY. its kick-ass stuff.
wash the car....spray it on, then dry.
preserves the shine between waxes.

Hi Jim,

I've had great results with Meguiar's products. I usually use their Cleaner/Wax combo as it's
quick to put on. Their 3 step product will give you better results. In between wax jobs, I use their Final Inspection spray and find that it works very well on dust, finger prints, etc. compared to other brands - it's great just before a show. There are many other good brands (Mother's, Blue Coral, etc.) available that also use authentic Carnauba wax - the articles I've read on this subject strongly recommend the Carnauba based products for your best results.
