A tale among many:
February 12,1965. Stop in to pick up my new 65 GTO at dealership (dealer name?)in Maryland just outside of Washington, DC. Main street in front of building is a long wide straight stretch going up a slight grade toward DC. While waiting for my car a guy drives out in his brand new GTO and heads up the straight stretch winding tight and grabbing gears. I'm watching all this with a salesman. About the time the guy hits fourth he destroyed the engine in a thunderous crunch of metal and clanging and the GTO coasts to a dead stop in its track. The salesman looks at me, shrugged his sholders and casually says "It's covered by warranty!"
