When I bought my goat, it had an Edelbrock carb that the former clueless owner had no idea what c.f.m. it was. Anyone know how to identify these things? Thanks

It should have a four digit number stamped on it somewhere visible. Make a note of it and look at Edlebrocks web site or even a Summit catalog to reference it. If it is fairly old I would guess it to be 600cfm.

Brakes?! We don't need no stinking brakes!

Just checked Summit racing online. They have the Edlebrock carb numbers listed online. It will be a 1400 series carb. 1400, 1404, 1405-06-07 etc...

The lower left edge of the card should be stamped with 1406,1407,1408..1406=60cfm, 1407=750 cfm, 1408=800.
I've got the 1406, 600cfm on my 400, but I'm gonna be upgrading to the 1407, 750 cfm. The 600 seems to be choking the motor.

On the passengers side front of the carb if it is a silver one there will be a date code & a part#. The part# will be 14 something. Look down by the mounting holes.

Hey guys, this thing has 1405 on it. What does that mean? Thanks.

EDL will not show on the unit but it's a 600 cfm manual choke.
