Three questions:
1) Anyone know if the in-dash Autometer 5 inch speedo (#4490) and 5 inch tach (#4494) would fit in the stock dashboard of a 69 Firebird? I know that there'd have to be modifications, but has anyone out there tried it?

2) Would you recommend mechanical or electrical aftermarket guages?

3) Are there any aftermarket dashes that would fit in a 69 Firebird, for the above application? I know that there's one for a 69 Camaro, but I was told it wouldn't be a direct bolt-in for a Firebird. Thanks much!

Yes - The 5" gauges do fit in the dash of first gen birds. Infact there is a nice example in the current issue of PHR. The car is actually a 68 Camaro but the gauge cluster is the same size form 67-69 I believe. Look on page 27.

Honest dad, that 455 on the side of the block is a serial number http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...icon_smile.gif
