I'm swapping out the 61 2bbl 389 for a 73 .060 455. So I should be about 469 cubes. Here's a few pics of the progress

Here's one with the slugs and crank in. The cam degreed in perfect and didn't need an offset key. I was lapping in the valves and putting the heads together in this pic as well.

You got it. I used the rods out of the "61" 389. They're a little stronger than stock cast and didn't cost any extra. Since the car will be a stout cruiser I wasn't worried about using them.

I think you will hear some debate as to whether the early steel rods are acutaully any better than the later cast rods. From what I have read, if you don't have them heat treated and shot peened they are supposed to be weaker.

I did break one in a 428 I had that I was running up to 6200 rpm's through the traps drag racing it. But if you are going to keep the RPM's below say,5000 you probably won't have any problems

Yeah it's just going to be a strong, loud cruiser, not a drag car.

Dil - I noticed some cans of Pontiac Blue # 208 in the background. Did you buy those locally here in SoCal or did you pick them up off the net? I've been trying to find some locally and nobody seems to carry it!
