Any of you guys have any experience repairing wheelwell trim? My '73 GA trims are in great shape except three of them have dings. I know how rare these pieces are. I don't want to spend alot of money as the car is not worth that much. If I ever get around to getting it painted it would be great to have straight trim on the car. Any help is appreciated.

I have had limited sucess getting the brite-dip anodized aluminum trim repaired. You can't polish it too much or you risk wearing the anodizing off, then it looks like sh!t. There are a few professional shops out there that do aluminum trim restoration, and that can also re-anodize the trim once the ding has been massaged/polished. NOS wheel opening mouldings pop up from time to time, and would almost be better in the long run, as long as they exhibit minimal shelf wear. I've heard of some pretty high prices paid for the '73 only NOS trims. On the other hand a GA can be a HPP cover car with no trims. http://forums.performanceyears.com/g.../icon_wink.gif

The ONLY 1973 items are the rear wheel opening mouldings. The fronts are the same and GP is similiar and will work with minimal massaging.

Yes, and I have seen sets sold on E-Bay and at Carlisle for excess of $400. They are a lot harder to find now than back in 1989.

Will 77 trim interchange with the other Years? If so I believe I can lay my hands on some after it warms up. I am not leaving the house till it passes 50 degrees.

1973-77 front wheel opening trim is the same.

1973 rear wheel opening trim is by itself.

1974-77 rear wheel opening trim is the same.

Went to check it out today and it never had any wheel trim. Same on the other 4 Lemans I looked at.

The wheel trim was optional on the base LeMans, and standard with LeMans Sport Coupes and Luxury LeMans/Grand LeMans.

We have a guy in Dallas that repairs wheelwell trim. Both Randy Allen and Bob Cook used him for their Can Am's. whellwell trim.
