I just purchased a 1980 turbo that has a 350 pontiac motor(thats what the old owner said). I was wondering is that a good motor, could I add a turbo to that, or what is the best motor I could just bolt in? I need help and I dont know alot about motors.

Best engine for a street car IMHO is a 455. 400s are Good and Ive had to 354 powered cars that were alot of fun too. If youve got a good running engine already, drive it and see what you think...you can always swap it later.

Thanks for the response, I will keep the motor and see how it works out. Is it easy to find performance parts for it. Do they make turbos for it?

If the car has a 350 in it, then it isn't the stock motor, whioch you might already know. It's possible to add a turbo to just about any car, but that's if you have a lot of specialized knowledge and fabricating skills. The only stock Pontiac motors that came with turbos were the 301s. I imagine it is possible to find replacement turbos for them, although I have never checked.

Are you new to Pontiacs? You really don't need turbos on these cars to have fun, fast cruisers, or even really fast race cars. A Pontiac 400 or 455 motor can be built up to give you all the power you will need. Unlike imports, older cars rely on cubic inches to make power http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...icon_smile.gif
