No. Paint it the same as what the interior color should be. And the tops of the doors are interior color too. HTH.

If the seats are black, for example... Then the door panels will be black, the paint above the doors will be black, the pillars will be black, dash and glove box door also black.
The only time I have seen the front dash red, is when the the entire interior is red.

My complete interior is red. It is original and looks like to color that is used on the exterior.

Red on red? That's a lot of red! But it still won't be the same as the exterior. I'm sure someone here can give you the right paint code now that we know what you need. Or I'll have to dig out my GTO Restoration Guide tommorrow...

Is your HO an auto or a stick? (not related, just curious)

I always thought a Red Exterior and a Red Interior is a striking color combination. Most 66 and 67 GTOs I have seen with this color combination have had a white top that really sets it off. What color is you top? Im assuming your GTO is a convertible since your ID has "vert" in it. By the way, very, very valuable GTO, 67 Red HO Convertible! Wow!!! Anyway, yes, the dashpad should match the interior color.
For 1967 GTO:
Exterior Paint Code on Data Plate = R (R stands for Regimental Red as you know)
Interior Color Code on Data Plate = 225 (Red)
I have never seen a specific name other than "red" listed for the interior color if that is what you are looking for. There are several companies that will recover your dashpad using original material and the right color for your year. Just do a Google search on it.

Thanks for all of the help. My car is a 4 speed. It is #'s matching and rust free. The top factory is black, but my dad changed it to white back in the 70's when he bought it. I would be glad to post some pictures if somebody could help me out with how to do it. im not that great with a computer. Let me know what you find out in the restoration guide. Thanks for the info! Ive been looking around today at my car. It appears that the dash portion that is behind the pad, pillar post, and on the bottom of the instrument panel is a darker red than the rest of the dash, top of the doors, etc.. Im assuming this is a different paint also?

Ok, so I ordered a GTO restoration book and got it today. To asnswer my own question and ask another one, it say the upeer dash is burgandy but doesnt list a paint number. So how am I suppose to get the right paint?

There are two paint colors on the red interior--the dash top and the rest. The original paint codes for a red interior, code 225, are DuPont 9366-LM, Ditzler 71591, or Rinshed-Mason 67B45R. These are to be 60% gloss. The dash top is burgundy, DuPont 9201-LM, Ditzler 71486, or R-M 65B55M. This is to be flat--zero gloss.
That was the easy part. Now for the tricky bit--getting modern paint matched up to the antique code numbers.

Has anyone had any problems getting the burgandy color for the upper dash? If it has 0% gloss, is that just paint only or a flat color?

You can mix the desired color in base paint add 10% hardner (no clear coat) and that will give you the low gloss finish and still be resistant.

It used to be that the flattener was an additive to regular paint, but the BC-only method sounds good to me.

I have a 67 HO sedan that is red on red. I repainted the dash last year and used a burgundy DuPont that I found locally that was a very good match. I will look for that paint when I get home tonight.
