Hi Guys! Hope you can help me out. I have a 1970 gto with a 400 c.i.d motor. When I restored it back in 1989 I put 455 frt. coil springs and stock coils in the rear.Ever since the car has been leaning to the left rear. I don't know if it is a defective spring or the mis match in the springs. I bought a set of helpers for the left spring and it help. Now I am replacing the shocks in the car and it is time to fix the leaning problem.Can somebody help me out.

I see a lot of leaning A body cars. It could be from a tweaked frame but the springs are proably the problem. They put some pretty weak springs in the rear from the factory and a lot of times the back sits lower than the front. Rear springs are cheap in price, I would replace them first to see if it fixs problem.

I have A 69 Tempest that when purchased, was sagging badly in the rear. I replaced the springs in back with A new set of stock springs and it sat square at first, then after A couple days leaned to the passenger side. I replaced them again (no charge for these) with variable-rate springs (wagon application) and it sat square and now - 4 years later - still does.

make sure the springs are seated in the proper location on the axle / control arms. if they aren't then a lean can occur. the front springs most generally cause the most difference. by shimming up the rear spring you may have just compensated for the front. mike

I had a problem similar that I thought was a rear spring.......turned out to be the FRONT on the opposing corner!

Will guys replaced the rear springs with cargo coils. The rear of the car sits higher,because the springs were a inch higher. Still have a problem. the front of the car sit higher and still leans to the left.I will replace the front springs and hope for the best. Keep you guys posted.
