Does anybody know if it is possible or worth trying to repair the original headrests for a 70. Mine are not to bad except the lower corner vinyl is cracked in several areas and the foam underneath is chipping in small pcs. Can this be repaired or should I just invest in the repros. since I am going to do the interior over anyway? I quess I would be a little concerned that the original headrests would be faded and not match the new seat covers. Are the repros. of good quality? Thanks..

The repros do not look anything like an original headrest...they are made of urethane
instead of foam covered with vinyl...you either
need to find nice originals or send yours out to Just Dashes in california to have them recovered correctly.

They make a headrest cover. They are $25.00 + s&h
I think PY has them. I have a set of new ones that I bought when I had my interior done that I didn't need. If you want them I'd take 20 bucks + shipping . I would say shipping would be 5 bucks or less. They are black. Drop me an email if interested.

squadbay, I've heard you can never get the covers on without a bunch of wrinkles. I'd try and find some better originals and re-dye them like I did.

I have no idea, I never had them put on my head rests are nice. As whoever is going to do your interior what they think of them. They might look good or they could look like crap. ???

If installed professionally, the covers look
very nice...they look like the way the factory did it on the bench seat cars...but they don't look correct. If correctness is not an issue for you, the covers will look fine.

Thanks for all the valuable input. I called justdashes and they want $460.00 to restore the pair. I am not doing a concours but do not want the headrests to look like they came out of a Volkswagon.

I PUT A SET OF THE COVERS ON M7 '71; RIGHT OVER THE ORIGINALS. THEY LOOK VERY GOOD. OR, MAYBE IF YOU DROP THEM OFF AT AN UPHOLSTERY SHOP, THEY CAN TAKE MORE PROFFESSIONAL MEASURES TO RECOVER YOURS AND THEY'L TURN OUT GREAT.

I DID HAVE TO STRETCH THE MATERIAL OVER THE OLD THOUGH, SO MAYBE USE A HEATER OF SOME KIND TO HELP THIS. TAKE TIME NOT TO RIP SEAMS OUT OF CORNERS. THEN GLUE AND STAPLE THE UNDERSIDE UNDER THE PLASTIC COVER.

THE MATERIAL IS NICE THAT P/Y HAS AVAILABLE, SAME SUPPLIER AS SEAT KITS.... PUI. MY COMFORTWEAVE REPROD. IS VERY CLOSE, I THINK.

Headrests seem to survive on even the most worn seats you have ever seen, so I would think originals would not be hard to find, even if you have to vinyl dye them.
