It's been a year and a half since I've done an interior and have a few things I'm fuzzy on...This is a 70 GTO hardtop.

1. Window crank goes like this right? Spring (fat end out), door panel, washer, crank w/ clip? If not LMK asap.

2. Does the sill plate go over or under the kick panels and door windlace?

3. How far should the carpet run underneath the sill plate. Just under that lip that holds it?

Thanks for your help,
Mike

I can't remember about the cranks right now but the sill plates go over the windlace and kicks. They should be installed last or removed first.

The original carpet in my 70 varied from half an inch to nearly the width of the sill plate over the length of the plate (narrowest in the middle of the door opening IIRC). I think you are meant to lay the carpet for best fit and then use the sill plate to cover and hold down the edge, where the edge actually is beneath the plate doesn't matter.

I cut my carpet right about where the screw holes are for the sill plate. When I screwed the sill plate in, I held it a little angle so the outside part met the metal floor and ramped up to the carpet.

I don't know what the factory did.

You are correct about the window crank sequence.
