I need a new rear valance for my 72. Anyone have a recommendation for (or against) a particular reproduction? The ones in the Ames catalog seem like more work than I'd like to invest (but I do appreciate their honesty). Are there others that work well?
Thanks |

I would try and find an original for sale. Try posting in the want ad section. I'm sure someone has one they'd sell. Shouldn't be too hard to find one.

If memory servers me correctly the '72 is unique in the fact it is plastic where '70 & '71 are metal.

I have a 72 luxury lemans parts car. Unfortunately the rear valence is broken / missing. There are a lot of other good parts (chrome / front end parts, etc) on the car, let me know what else you need and I see if I have it.

Do you happen to have the rear fender skirts? Thanks, Matt G LuxLemans |
Most of the 72 valance panels did not lead a charmed life. Almost every one I have seen on parts cars are toast. I used two to make one for my 72 GTO.
Collect a few and make one good one. I spent alot of time welding (plastic) on mine. |

there a rear valance e bay

I can get you a set of skirts, how badly do you want them? I'll make the guy an offer. We were joking about putting them on a '71 Judge.
|
jegstek,
I am looking for skirts primarily as a back-up and to scavenge the hardware. Let me know what you/your contact is looking to get for them. Thanks, Matt G |
Sorry Matt, no fender skirts. Let me know if there is anything else you may need.

I believe that somewhere in the year that they switched back to the metal valances. I have an original 72 that HAD a plastic one on it. To my understanding, just like the ducktail, they had problems and went back to the metal at some point. Maybe someone else can shed more light on this.??

Sal,
What is the build date of your car? Any information is helpful. Maybe a poll? Others please post build date and type of rear valance. '72 only. |

These folks sell them. http://www.thepartsplaceinc.com/ </div></BLOCKQUOTE> Anybody have any feedback on these? Quality? Fit and Finish? Etc. Expecially the 1970-72 rear Leamans/gto metal valance panel. Photos would be nice. |
Well I just installed a plastic rear valance (with cutouts for dual exhaust) from thepartsplaceinc.com. It seems to fit just fine. The plastic is a little flimsy (the dual cutouts don't help this at all). But I sanded it down, primed it, sanded and painted it then installed today (acutally I did a test fit first before painting it of course). Fits great, looks great. Just will have to see how well it holds up over time.
Because the plastic bends so easily it's easy to get a good fit - I don't know if it would be so easy with a metal version if everything didn't line up just right. |
I bought the metal one from The Parts Place for
my 71 GTO, and it fits fine. I also bought the repro front valance for the GTO,and it is really, really nice! |
I bought a rear valence from the Parts Place for my '72. The first time they shipped it out it came to me cracked because they did not package it very well. However, they took it back with no questions asked and resent another one. It fit fine. Also, as a side note, they have to ships these valences in an oversize box, so the shipping is a little bit more than regular UPS rate. Regarding rear fender skirts, I have a pair that I don't mind selling. Don't really know the going rate on a pair. Nevertheless, it would be one less item laying around in the garage. E-mail me at [email protected] with a reasonable offer. You pay shipping.

Very happy to here that they fit wel, unlike SO many other reproduction parts! http://forums.performanceyears.com/g...s/icon_mad.gif Unfortunately, I bought two NOS front valance panels before the repro's were available! |
