Have just started restoring a 1966 GTO sedan. Vehicle does not have a rear end. Could someone recommend a rear end that would match a 389 four spd? There seemed to be alot of choices when I researched the options that were available then. Do not plan on racing, just restoring a classic that will have very good performance. Also have found a few places to obtain the rear end, but could always use a few more suggestions. Thanks. :confused:

Mike if you want to make a nice cruiser a 3:55 rear works well. If you want a little more get up and go then put in a 3:90. Either one will work just fine.

Mike I have a 66 post car also. There great cars, about 60bls less than a hard top (less is more).
Auburn gear makes the only posi for a 8.2 rear. The ratio I have come to enjoy is the 3.55. Does about 2700 rpm at 65 mph.
