I purchased a 69 FB in the fall and need help to get it onto the road again. I got the car off someone that needed money and wasn't really intending on selling the car. Because of that the car came without the doghouse on it. I have the fenders and hood and a few other parts like a grille and misc. parts. So I am not sure what parts I need to complete the front end. I purchased a manual off ebay and its pretty crappy with the pics. So my question is if there is anyone that might have pics of their front end being put together in stages or a website that might be helpful. I am a young guy that hasn't had the opportunity to be around these cars so I am kinda lost right now. Now that the weather is getting nice I would like to get this car on the road. If anyone has some pics or advice they can e-mail me at [email protected]. Thanks in advance guys.

It might be better to send pics of what you have - then the guys on the board here can try and tell you what you're missing and how difficult or what tools are required to put it back together. You might want to find some one with experience if there is a lot of work involved. I had a high end shop in my area help align my 69's front hood / fenders. Later on the nose went out of adjustment. They never admitted it, but I found another guy (too late) that said they forgot to losen some bolts around the bumper and the threaded ends got stripped and now has to to be repaired. Paint damage from scuffing is another matter.

yeah I will try to post up some pics of what I have but its not much.

Thanks

OK I went out and rounded up what parts I have and I took 9 pictures but I have no way of hosting them. Can anyone host these for me?

Ahhhh, ahhh...having flashbacks of pain, bloody knuckles, bruised arms, and foul language, screaming. Make it stop! See link. Latest pics are at top.

Well, first off I would check the radiator support bushings and support itself for rust/ corrosion. I had to replace mine. That has to sit on the subframe correctly or you'll never get everything lined up right. Plus your subframe bushings. Then the innner fenders go on. Then the fenders and lower valance. The whole head light assembly attaches to the sub-frame and connects to the radiator support gussets. I don't know - it's a lot of work. Just try what you can and let us know where you get stuck. Too much to list. Good luck! Oh, you definitely want to get a front fender/ bolt kit from PY, Ames, CI, etc which includes all the nuts, bolts, and clips required to install the front clip.

well I just picked up the front end sheet metal bolt kit from a local shop yesterday. The core support is in good shape. I am just trying to find out what I am missing because I bought the car in this kind of shape and I have no experience with these cars.

Thanks

I don't see:

-- the plastic headlight surrounds (appears you have the metal frames and rubber backings)

-- the batwing that goes above the bumper. That also has thin metal spacers that go below the wing.

-- Might be my eyes, but I don't see the frame extensions. Those attach to the end of the frame and what the long metal piece gets bolted to.

You seem to have everything else....

JQE80 04-27-2005 02:31 PM

by frame extensions are you talking about the part that is curved and attach
s directly to the front subframe?
