Since Im upgrading everything else, the sealed beam lights on the 70 GTO are being replaced by a set of Hella lenses. These lenses use replaceable elements, and if I understand correctly, I can use regular H1 and H4 elements or step up to a full on HID system. Anyone with experience that can shed a little light on this subject (no pun intended) please post.

must add a relay or two for the new power wire from the battery to the bulbs along with splicing into the headlamp wiring harness. Piece of cake. However, most systems are not DOT approved for street use including most safety inspections and the higher wattage is definitely not allowed.

why not just use the new super hal lights out there or the new white bright lenses ?they are legal and easier and cheaperhttp://forums.performanceyears.com/g...icon_smile.gif

in case you did not notice, most of these aftermarket replacement bulbs may give you a slightly different color light, but actually, it will not be brighter in terms of lumens or pattern. Only having more watts above the usual 35 -55 watts actually give you more light. Now the HID systems are mucho bucks, but do work if you can find a set to fit our older vehicles AND are DOT approved for passing safety inspections. By the way, the clear lenses with some red bulbs are not bright enough to pass SAE standards and again are not approved by DOT. QED
