Anyone have a 67 HO car? Where does the larger countershaft spring attach? We can see the hole on the countershaft where it attaches, but where does the other end attach?

Anyone have a 67 HO car? Where does the larger countershaft spring attach? We can see the hole on the countershaft where it attaches, but where does the other end attach?

I don't know about a 67 but on a 65 there is a hole in the flange that connects the exhaust head pipe to the exhaust manifold. The spring connect to the hole in the flange.

On my '67 H.O. 4 speed, the end of the large spring hooks into the last coil of the smaller spring. Don't know if this is correct or not, car was set up like that when purchased. Works fine though.

Ken K, that is correct for the non HO cars. The flange has the hole in it. The HO flange is cast. I just got a call from an HO owner and he said there is a small hole about 2" in front of the body mount where the spring attaches. Can anybody confirm that such a hole exists on a 65 or 66 in addition to the 67?

I have both an extra 65 and 67 frame, There are lots of holes drilled on the side of the 65 frame near the body mount. The 67 frame still has the body shell on it and it was equiped with a 6 cylinder, the spring for the Z bar is still attached, there is a hole on the lower part of the firewall near the body mount. That is where the end of the spring is attached.
