Inner tie rods
 
Anybody else going thru this problem bought spicer inner tie rods and the head is to big and hits the frame on the drivers side when i turn the other side is ok was told spicer is the oem part

I will have to check mine. I too just installed Spicer inners for my 66. In process of tourqueing everything down. Should know tonight.

Joe, Mine is a 68 even tried a cheap er one from parts master the head is smaller but still not as small as orig one it hit .

Does any one know is the center link across the front by the frame horn closer to one side or should be evenly spaced across was thinkin maybe wrong pitman arm can someone give me #,s off / measurement how long pit is for 68 gto w ps. thanks.

Did you buy your tie rods from PY? If so, beware and double check them!! I found out the hard way that the sleeves didn't lock down and my tie rods worked their way out and ruined two new tires on my car. I'm dang lucky that it wasn't worse than that!!!

The pitman arm should point fore and aft when the steering is centered, as should the idler arm. The centerlink should be parallel to the crossmember. If it's not, you probably have a Firebird pitman arm, but somebody would have had to screw up to do so.

Thanks Shadowjack the the pitman is straight but it drops down slightly i,m thinkin a bent center link i,m gonna buy a new one and try.

I finished up my 66 front end with the spicer inners. Purchased from Autozone. Everything is fine. Hope you get it figured out.

Shadowjack you were absolutely correct i had the wrong pitman arm went to our classic wrecking yard here and got one and now its perfect thanks all.
