Well, this past weekend I finally started the restoration of my 68 HO 4-speed car. We disassembled the frame and repaired the cracks by grafting in a fresh frame piece from a 70 gto. Guess what, it wasn't exactly contoured the same. So after 6 hours of cutting and fabbing, you can not tell we welded on it.

Saturday was to be sandblast day, but lo and behold it snowed. That will have to wait, in the interim I may investigate the galvanizing route. :juggle: In the meantime, time to order some quality Moog suspension pieces and get the rear end rebuilt!!!! Finally started after 5 long years of parts gathering!!!!!

Galvanizing is good BUT...you need to do your homework on getting paint to stick to it. This can be tricky. You will likely spend as much on paint as you would have without the Galv. coating. Powder coat??? :juggle:

I can scan in pics as soon as I develop them....I have some already....If I scan them in, how do I post them???? I am not very technical savy LOL. :confused2

its easy to post the pics once you've scanned them. When you reply you'll notice a section right under this box you type in called "Additional Options". Click on "manage attachments" and then choose "Browse" to find your picture name. Make sure you write down or remember WHERE you save your scanned image. When you scan it should prompt you as to where the image will be saved. This is the biggest problem my students have when saving pictures. they save them,, but don't exactly know WHERE they saved them- OOPS!

One word of caution, I'm not sure what scanner you have and what the default settings are but you may need to set your scanner to a medium or lower resoultion. The first time I used scanner 4 years ago the resoultion was defaulted to high- one picture emailed overloaded my professors email account at the college I was attending. Shut down his whole account! LOL.

If you need to resize existing pictures there is a free download called "Irfanview", you can "google" it and find a site to download from. we use it at home and school. Easy to download and use and real user friendly.

I had a bout of the "mightaswells" this summer. Shift fork repair on the tranny turned into new clutch kit and welding the correct 4 spd porch into my 68 convert to fix a prior conversion from an earlier tranny conversion. Fixing the seat bolts that snapped off during seat extraction. But it was worth it. Could have gone further (of course) but lack of funds and strong desire to drive it again before winter set in here made sure I didn't get too carried away. No guarntees once the loan paid off of course. :-)

Yeah I hate rust too , unfortunately there's lots here in NY huh?
I'm in North Syracuse where we get 130" of snow each year. Could be worse my buddy a little further north is in the lake effect snow belt area, at least once a winter they get just the right conditions to get 60" in 24-48 hours. Sounds like fun doesn't it?

Hudson valley? where about? Had a college buddy for wappingers falls whose cllege car was a nice 67 tempest. He worked it over pretty good, plenty fast. I used to race him back from campus in my 82 grand prix. fun times.

I will be getting my doors Monday looking for power anntenae still. Have hidden headlight assembly 15 inch Ralleye 2's looking for steelies with doggie dishes....etc. I know all about Western NY, went to school in Rochester...LOL Will post more pics once film is developed. Have to find pic of my bare frame.
