Horsepower required to run in the 10"s
 

Hi, guys i am still relatively new to the board, but i would like to know what it would take to run in the 10'S. I know that the suspension has to be right,along with the tires, but i am builiding my 75 formula 400 with a 6-71 blower,and i would like to get some kind of idea,as to what kind of horsepower it would take to run in the 10"s . this is not just for blower guys, i would like to here from anyone, with any combination.

well depending on the weight of the car, i would say around 550-700 hp . 550 being a light car and 700 being a heavy boat...

If you want to run 10's I recommend that you use a car that you don't mind lightening, cutting up and installing a roll bar or cage. If you want to run 10's in car with a race weight of close to 4,000 pounds then not only is it going to be a strain on everything (especially your wallet), engine, trans, rear gear and your suspension will require modifications too. My recommendation would be prepare the car first, lighten her up quite a bit, get the suspension mods in place, get your trailer and a tow vehicle, and then build an engine for the car. Now you will have a car thet will work well on the race track, will be more consistent, the engine and the rest of the parts will last longer and it will be more fun. Yes there are guys that have 9 second street cars but reality is not what it seems from a distance.
