Rear shock mount help

1 Attachment(s)
I am trying to install my new rear KYB shocks on my 69 and I can't get the old ones off of the upper mounts. I will try to attach a picture of the rear upper mount and if anyone would be so kind as to tell me if the mount looks like an aftermarket piece that someone has put on I would appreciate it. If this is not the correct mount let me know. It looks to me like the frame itself has clearance for the shock head. Does the shock mount directly to the frame? I am having a hard time reaching the nut that is above the frame and it is turning with the bolt. Any ideas on how I can get a wrench on it? Thanks in advance.

Thats an aftermarket shock extension, those are usually used to keep the shock from over extending and damaging the shock, they are used often when the car is "jacked up" or when the chassis is set-up to "seperate" on launch as opposed to "squat" on launch.

As far as reaching the nut on the back side, well if your not worried about the bolt, just cut the head off with a cut-off wheel,or a cutting torch if you have access to either.

HTH.
