I agree with taximan, but only to the specific car. So what's the point of hiding the VIN from the sellers stand point. He can only sell it to the current owner at any price in my opinion, because who else would want it. And this crap about protecting the VIN, HAHA................

I just sent this to the seller:

"This is all cool, but the only one you can sell it to is the current owner in my opinion. Who else would want it? Cloning the car is silly, who would and who cares if some one tried. Which brings me to the point of hiding the VIN, I think it's silly because it's your only chance to sell it. Do you think any of the 99 possible cars; of the few that might respond, wouldn't they be at a bigger risk to tell you their VIN?

Not that it matters to me either way; I'll post my VIN, Tag, number, and everything else to my car on my web site for the world to see."

good point Steve... I agree. Maybe he wants to keep some "mystique" about it to get more $$$

THATS full robbery in my opinion, i can make it for way less than that. NOT original but NOT the original expense either.
HECK thats what the car SOLD for originally. NOW cars with original paper work will be worth $3500-$5K MORE????? C`MON lets get back to EARTH here.

Wow, a half million dollars, at least I can look forward to retirement in 25 years!

The amount of $$$ someone is willing to pay is a function of what they can pay, and perceived value.

If you assume someone has the $$ to pay, then the question is what are you going to do with the car. If someone, or their sibling feel that they may someday sell the car, then this price will add at least that much to the car, IF it's not a complete wreck. If it is in pieces, it still is worth it, you will just have to wait a little longer.

Thats the nice thing about buying GTO's right now. You won't lose $$$, you just might have to wait a little longer if you want to make $$$

The value of original docs is not worth as much on Pontiacs, thanksk to PHS. However, even with PHS docs, a potential owner will feel more "warm and fuzzy" having a POP and window sticker.

IMO, this paperwork does not increase the value of the car substantially. And no where near what this guy wants for it. The car is what it is. With or without this paper work. If there were no such thing as PHS we would be having a different conversation.

Wouldnt it be interesting if this auctions got a large number of bids.

For the person who's car that belongs to, it could be a really great find... to the rest of us...it's old plastic and shredded paper.... pretty much a novelty and nothing else. I know I'd have no interest in someone elses window sticker and POP. While it would be great to have the original window sticker and POP for my car, I'm not sure I'd be willing to part with $3500 for it... unless that was the only little detail missing from a concourse original car!!!!!

Since you can get PHS repros of the window sticker, how come no one makes repops of the Protect-O-Plates and warranty brochure??? I'd be perfectly happy with something like that. I imagine many others out there would be too.

Just noticed the auction is "buy it now" only so multiple bids is not a possiblity.

If I owned that Judge, I would just drop the guy an e-mail with an offer of say $100. Take it or leave it in your dresser drawer for the next 25 years.

That's a great point. You'd have him in "check" to use the chess term...since you would obviously be the only person he ever had any real hope of selling it to for as long as you owned the car.

This just goes to show you what has become of this "hobby". There are too many people out for a buck. This paperwork belongs with the car, and it should have gone with it when he sold it. If I had it I'd offer it to the current owner of the car free of charge as long as he could prove that the VIN on his car matched the paperwork.

The guy has alot of nerve, IMO. He sold the car and the paperwork should have gone with the car. To top it all off, the window sticker is in lousy shape. I hope no one buys it for that price!
