71 gto hood alignment help - please!
 

I installed my hood today. It's been off for about three years, was stripped, repaired and painted along with the car. I've got the gaps pretty good and it aligns okay with the rear of the fenders. But the front doesn't seem to come down enough when latching. The latch catches but it's still approximately two inches high.

Any ideas ? Iwas looking at the hood and was wondering if the body guy forgot to put something back inside the hood - like a bar a catch mechanisim. It's been so long I can't remember if anything goes inside the square opening. If theres nothing in the latch opening any other ideas?
