well, here is a thread to the story,
http://216.178.81.108/forums/showthread.php?t=450916
long story short, i just took possesion of the car that started it all for me, my dads 1963 catalina 389 tri power four speed post. he bought it new in 63, it went away for 25 years or so, and now i own it. this car was the one that bottle fed me high octane milk, sang me to sleep with a lullaby of dual exhausts rumbling, and gave me a piggy back ride powershifting through the gears. hooked. when i was nine, he sold it, but i kept the key from the dealer, Bud Meadows, in portland oregon. it was very decorative, with the dealer logo on both sides, with the dream of driving that car again someday. today, i put that key, that key that hasn't seen it's mate in 30 years, in the ignition, and fired her up. wow. i am all giddy like a school girl, just wanted to share,
thanks for listenin',

it brought all the memories back in full, it still smells the same! my rub marks from my little feet are still on the driveline hump in the back. as far as shape, it's great considering it's age. i just took those pics yesterday, still wearing all it's original red lacquer, except the driver front fender, it has been replaced. the car only has 50,000 miles on it, leaks a little at the rear main,(that's odd!), but all the running gear has been gone through, interior looks good, a little worn but hey, it's 43 years old, and it's STILL on the planet. plans include freshening up rear end bushings,(wheel hop sumpin" fierce), new tires, dual fours, and maybe a treatment of steelies with dogdishes, the sudo super duty route.(previous owner badged it 421, so maybe i will have to live up to that!)
