manual valve body for 2spd auto
 

hi :)

my tempest has a 2spd automatic, with the shifter being on the column.

would i benefit from a (reserve or normal) manual valve body? i hear it makes the car more responsive, and also you have to shift it yourself. i dont have a problem with that at all (gives me something to do LOL)

how would the transmission benefit?
do they make one for my tranny?
how involved of an install is it? do i have to drop the tranny?

I doubt that a manual-shift valve body is an "on the shelf" item for your two-speed, since there wouldn't be much demand for it. And a custom-reworked one would be very expensive, even if you could get someone to do it. But on the chance that I'm wrong, call a major manufacturer like B&M and ask. However, manually shifting your two-speed wouldn't gain much performance, anyway.
No, trans doesn't have to come out to change a valve body.

Waste of money--but probably not available anyway.

You can get anything you want for a 2-speed Powerglide. Since the Pontiac 2-speed is actually a TH 300, NOT a Powerglide, aftermarket performance parts are...limited.

Might want to look into using the switch-pitch version of the 300, or better yet, just stuff in an overdrive--a 200R-4 or 7004-R. The 200 will bolt up to a Pontiac engine, the 700 will need an adaptor plate.
