Who's running aftermarket racing seats in their Pontiac???
 

I posted a question about who is running EFI on their cars, now my other question is...who is running late-model or more supportive aftermarket seats?

Also, I've already decided I DO NOT want the unsupportive factory buckets!!! I have a very messed-up back from when I did wrestling at school...and they are not comfy for me to be in at all!!! I need something with lumber and all that.

I'm wanting a racing seat that has an adjustable back and tilt foreward, so the back seat can still be used...but have the provisions for a 4 point harness if I wanted to go autocross, which is a serious possibility.

Only problem is, half of the ones I'm looking at or run into have what I want...but they look like they belong in a riced-out honda civic and NOT a classic Pontiac!!!! Any ideas? Basically I'm looking for something that isn't a fixed back seat, but has the deep side bolsters, provisions for a harness, and can allow people in the back.

The only one so far that is one that I'd even consider getting is this Momo Street Racer GT....it's a racing seat like I'm looking for but doesn't look tacky or cheap...all these others have that japanese 4 banger look to them :( .

Any input?? I'm getting close to interior and this kind of stuff can make or break the car!!!

I have racing seats in mine.......but not like those.

I have seats from hunsaker racing in my car. very comfortable and great support. not sure if you consider them too ricey or not.

They also have seat tracks to fit most cars.

Another idea is to use the seats out of a 4th gen Bird, they are very comfortable. Mine have power lumbar adjustments as well.

I have a set of Corbeau Legacy's. Also their adjustable tracks/mounts. Could not be happier.

cb, how much did you pay for those seats?

I'm in the market also, since I don't want to pay the buck to recover my '71 Deluxe seats.

the seats were $500 for both plus shipping. I got them on e-bay.

I replaced the stock seats in my 72 Bird with Subaru Legacy leather buckets that I purchased off of Ebay for $400. perfect for those track days @ Willow Springs or Laguna Seca.

I purchased apc racing seats off of ebay for around $200 for the pair I believe...They are all black with no labels (had to wait on a set without labels, but they show up pretty often). Very good support, I have some pics on my comp of them I can post, but the pics aren't very good. Mounting wasn't that difficult and they tilt forward and recline as well as slide forward/back. You can find them a lot cheaper on ebay or other sites, I didn't see any of the un-labeled kind on there, but they are a ton better than the stock seats, adjustable and a little lighter as well.

Looks like they have the unlabeled black ones on the above site, doesn't look out of place like the multi-colored seats with stuff written on them etc...

i have corbeaus in my gto, recaros in teh trans am, flofits in teh syclone, off brand in the v8 s10.
i like the flofit best for overall comfort vs support, and they're oem quality seats (came in saleen mustangs)

probly switching the recaro for the flofit.
i sell all those if you are interested.
also have sliders and custom fit, bolt in no-brainer mounting adapters available for nearly any car.

I am running Corbeau's myself. They have lists of waist sizes that their seats support. Which is quite helpful. Also don't put down the ricer stuff just yet. I went to a "ricer" shop and got the best deal on those Corbeau's

I bought a used pair of Recaro LS seats way back in '84! they were $500 then used. I have used them now in 4 different cars. They are currently in my '72 GTO 455HO WW5. I love them. Eventually, they will go into my '69 GTO. I have had them reupholstered twice. I still like them as much as I did when I bought them. They have held up well over the years. Side support is outstanding, they are beautiful and weigh about half of the stock buckets.

My Recaros I bought in 1980 for the TA really feel good but are HEAVY(and were expensive Steve). They went in the autocross Camaro when the TA got the stock interior to show some. Camaro is getting some lighter Kirkeys with the Pontiac motor!

I'm looking for a pair of the same style seats in a tan, camel, or beige for my TA. Don't want any BS logos though. I've got a pair of 6-way power Recaro's that came outta an 84 TA right now, but they are too heavy and need recovered for my current caliber resto. I'm looking at a pair from Arizen racing, not sure as they aren't available in a full tan color, just a two tone tan w/ black.
