DFBrakes - big car disc kit on Ebay - anyone???
 

Just wanted to see if anyone had any feedback on the Direct Fit Brakes 4-wheel disc conversion kit for the 65-70 big cars that's all over EBay. (example - Item number: 8066948761)

I saw someone had delivery problems with DFB, but how about fit/install etc?

I bought a 4 wheel kit for my 68 GTO from dfbrakes it fit and worked great bought it off of ebay. seemed to ship in allright time i think about 7-9 days shipping. Pretty simple kit to install. My father and I installed it in a weekend with no problems. and it was a complete kit. He even swapped for a chrome booster assembly. The best thing i have done for my car. Sure feels save driving know

My boss bouught the kit for he 67 firebird. It was a little over priced in my opinion, but everything you need came with it.

Looking through my previous posts, I would like to add a little to my last post above. All the parts that are new are made in China, the rear rotors wouldn't fit over the stock axles until we turned the rotor's .030 and ground down the rough edges of the axles (turned the inside of the rotor where e-brake shoes would be on newer vehicles), had to finish drilling the supplied banjo bolt (made in China) so that fluid would pass through it (took a while to figure out why the caliper wouldn't bleed!), the rear caliper holders had to be ground down so the caliper would fit into it, and bought three inch longer e-brake cables instead of using a generic Lokar universal kit.
One said and done, the car stops great, but it definitely wasn't "as advertised" as to the ease of installation and the "no modifications required". My advice is to buy the spindles only and get everything else from the parts house remanufactured or the wrecking yard (caliper brackets and backing plates)!

Their kits use the disc brake brackets that Scarebird makes. Buy the brackets from him and get the rest of the parts yourself (sends you complete list of what to buy). Should end up being around $400 instead of $700 that DFB gets. Do a search and you'll find him on the board along with his website.

personally i'd buy the scarebird brackets, use his list of parts from a local parts store and be ahead in the long run.

the company on ebay is just pkging his list and selling it to you.


scarebird will be there for your tech questions also. he's proved that on this forum.
