HELP

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I want to preface this by saying I am NOT a pro...an amature at best!
I am installing a 355 480 horse cheby motor in my 68 vert..I KNOW I KNOW!
Booger of it is I cant get the 4spd muncie and bell housing to mate up with the block! That being said, I have a flywheel off a 402 big block bolted up to the 355, I was told they are internally balanced the same...The bell housing is also off the the 402 which appears to bolt up perfectly to the muncie and the cheby 355. Now then, I have tried vehemently(sp?) to put the motor in only to be cock blocked by the dang thing, ihave pulled the clutch 5 times, replaced 2 pilot bushings and am ready to jump off a bridge... what the heck am I doing wrong? I am only a quarter to 3/8th's of an inch away and the splines seam to be engaged...can I cinch up the bell housing the rest of the way or will it screw the clutching up...HELP
