WTB or FIND/Trade Heat Riser for 347 V8
Hello,
We are trying to help a fellow "truck-nut" of ours who has a 1957 GMC Pickup truck with a 347 cubic inch V-8 Pontiac. He is looking for a heat riser. Any help would be appreciated. newbee rico |
Does he run the truck in cold enough air that he really needs the heat riser function? If not, then I'd say just leave it if it's stuck in the open position- or if stuck closed, just cut/break away the valve from inside the manifold.
I'll have to look in the barn and post later about maybe having one. |
Heat Riser in NY
Jack,
Thanks for your prompt and very helpful answers to my posts. I apologize to the board for placing multiple posts on the same topic in the different forums. The heat riser is needed for a fellow in New York. So I guess the weather would be a factor. If you do have one in your barn, let me know. Thanks! rico:D |
Looking in the GMC shop manual, I see that the heat riser valve was built into the manifold, as opposed to being a separate assembly sandwiched between manifold and pipe. What part(s) is he looking for- shaft? plate? thermostat spring? anti-rattle spring?
