Is this real??????

Larry Navarro 07-31-2006 03:02 PM

ROUND PORT MOTOR TOO.

Lloyd-TX 07-31-2006 03:03 PM

Seen the red one for the SCCA president. This one I've never heard of!

pmdclassics 07-31-2006 03:49 PM

If you look closely at the photos you can see lots of cameo white underneath that code 1 black.

RAFormulas 07-31-2006 05:31 PM

I have a email into him for a scan of the PHS... too bad I just spent all my money on another bird. :-ohwell:

Norwood 07-31-2006 06:23 PM

I would say that this is not real. The hood stripe look funny to me. We will see.

njsteve 07-31-2006 06:53 PM

The stripe looks like a Lucerne blue car's stripe with the heavy black border, that's why it looks like a weird little white pinstripe out at the edge.

69cruizer 07-31-2006 08:35 PM

paint code on the cowl is 26

steve v 07-31-2006 09:24 PM

It looks like the black has chipped down to the white primer on the front valance!

A blue one then.

Would sure like to see what the PHS says that makes him think it was a "special paint" car.

It's got that great '70s era look with the Cragars and side pipes. It will make for a great before/after picture for whoever restores it.

Well then, the seller is simply your typical e-bay moron. What a bone-head!

69cruizer 08-01-2006 10:25 AM

Sorry, mistake!!! I had e mailed a guy to send pics of his cowl tag over a month ago. And I sent a similar e mail to the black TA. I got them confused. Still have not heard anything from the black TA. Has anyone else???

RAFormulas 08-01-2006 10:51 AM

The mystery continues... this guy believes he has something special based on his PHS... I have got to see what he is talking about. The picture evidence tells me it was a white car, but who knows.

I have not heard back from him yet either.

And I'll wager you'll never hear from this dolt either!

special paint codes are fun.. :) and so are rusty cylinders with stuck pistons!

unruhjonny 08-01-2006 02:56 PM

I sent a polite mail asking the seller for some more info too... hopefully he replies.

Thumpin455_GTO 08-02-2006 12:43 AM

See if you can get a shot of the cowl plate.. :)

giles 08-02-2006 10:22 AM

RA Formulas, I know the "evidence" says white paint, but keep in mind that the plastic bits on 2nd gen TAs (wheel spoilers, front valance) were molded in color and not painted. To build a "special paint" TA would require the vendors of these plastic bits to make a special run in the special color and then get those parts to the line at the right time (really unlikely in '72). Norwood must have painted the parts in a one-off fashion and probably started with white parts.
I'd still like to see the data plate and build sheet.....

RAFormulas 08-02-2006 10:57 AM

Does anyone know if the one off RED car had white molded plactic pieces?

I sent him another email stating that if he wants me to bid, he is going to have to send me a copy of the PHS invoice and a picture of the cowl tag. He never did respond to my first email.
:Peace:

I spoke to the guy , he seems like a straight shooter . It took me 10 minutes of fun investigating work to track him down . He was in shock when I called . I aologized for ,but I had to call . He has received over 100 or so e-mails regarding the phs . I don't think he has returned any e-mails yet . He said it will be added to the auction today ,included the trim tag This might be the only documented black car . I think everyone is going to be surprised when this guy posts the build sheet ---, Now the question is how much is that car's value with that sp paint ? JM notes on the phs docs paint is unknown . He has a high reserve for a car . what do you think , double the value ? over 100,000 ? the car was parked from 1977 and never been repainted . What you see on the bottom spoiler is the factory white coat . He claims it's real deal . All the decals are still the factory original he claims . Well I put my bid in hoping this guy is not a nut case . I am local, so inspection should be interesting . He want's to let his auction run all the way and I don't blame him
