Here are some in progress pics of my frame off 73 Espirit to Formula recreation. I am very pumped and cant wait to see it in the sun after cutting and buffing. I absolutely love this color (Viper blue metallic). It also looks like there is a tiny amount of pearl in it. Paintdaddy here on the forum is doing the bodywork and paint. Check out his website at www.atlautoresto.com.

lookin good
definately best lookin blue out there |
I agree Red76TA. I build display panels of paint for trade shows, stores, etc. and I always include an example of Viper Blue. Excellent choice! irgoatmike

looks great!!! cant wait to see more :D

That body style does lend itself well to dark metallic blue doesn't it? I am in the process of painting my '70 Bird and I landed on '03 Corvette Electron Blue, similar shade maybe a litlle darker, and heavier on metalflake/pearl. Nice car!!
|
Thanks Guys. I realize there is still a very long way to go, but my momentum is just getting started. I honestly never thought I would get this far. I had looked real hard at the Vette Electron Blue. I know it will look great, I just wanted something a few shades darker.

Is that a little different from the color on that Buick you posted a pic of a while back? It seems like that was a little more purple, just wondering because I really liked the color on that Skylark.

for a 68 camaro we're doing at work we shot an old hood with a bunch of different blues- the viper was on there, not sure about the vette
anyway there were a bunch of custom colors i liked the viper best but also there was a nissan 350z color that looked real good. i dont think moy boss has decided on a color yet but i think he was leanin towards one of his creations |
Another great looking blue is the 96 Vette Grand Sport blue.
It was called "Admiral Blue". And they have a color for 06 called "LeMans Blue" one of the guys on this forum painted his 68 with and it looks great. Blue is tough. they can easily be too purple, too dark, to everything. I am having a tough time picking one myself. your color looks great on the car. |
looks very nice..

Same color that we put on my '69 firebird; and it is gorgeous in the sun:D
We just finished it in May; finally have gotten to cruise around in it a little bit this summer! |
Yep, great color. Had it on my 65 Cobra replica:

A lot of good blue colors mentioned here. I'm kind of partial to the Electric Blue Pearl on the PT Cruisers. Maybe add a little more flake to it though.
|
Thanks for the pics guys. They really showed me that I made the right decision with this color. I had also looked at the PT Cruiser Blue long and hard. I wanted a blue that was deeper in color.
|
Nice!!!!!!!!!! I was going to paint my 79 Trans Am that color. But I stuck with white. It's still not too late. The car is in primer anyway. You're making me change my mind. A friend of my boss has a 64 Belvedere(Mopar, hisssss) and it stands out in the sun. Its so nice, people would get whiplash from turning their heads too fast to look at it.
|
I like it- a very BLUE blue!
|
Blue is definitely da bomb, yo! I'll be doing my 67 bird in a similar color. Hopefully it's not excessively popular by the time I get to painting!
|
Any finished pics of this beauty. I'm really thinking this is the way I'm going to go
|
I am due to get it back from the restorer in a couple of weeks. I havent seen it since it was buffed. Ill be doing all the mechanicals. Then comes front and rear suspension, engine, trans, and then interior. Im shooting for completion for the 2008 Power Tour. My luck, it wont come anywhere near Georgia.
