70 Bonne 455?
 

I found a 70 4dr Bonneville with 455 badges that has been sitting at the end of a driveway for what appears to be several years. The body is starting to rust and is in not to good of shape.
I am about to revive a 67 Catalina with a 400 2bl. If the 455 is still in the Bonne should I pursue it to place in the Cat down the road?
Wasn't the 70 455 the strongest year of the 455?
I have been to the house twice. However, no one has been home.
What is a fair price to offer for the car/engine if it is not running?

i have bought a couple of 70 bonnievilles years ago both of them had small valve heads even though they had 4barrel carbs. if you can get it at a good price get it they are getting scarce. look for antifreeze in radiator and see if it will turn.grand prixs had big valve heads idont know the casting numbers but someone on this forum should. good luck with your project and post pics if you can.:)

DSU54, I'm currently looking aa a 70 455 Bonne myself. I did some research and it could have either a 360 horse or a 370 horse 455. This was one post I got on another board about the 455 from a reputable source.

Though the large-valve 455 (no. 64 heads) was optional, it is likely equipped with a YH-code 455 with No. 15 heads and 1.96/1.66-inch valves. It will still have around a 10:1 compression ratio. Even with the small valves, it's still a good runner. It was factory rated at 360 hp and around 500 lb/ft of torque.

That is a nice color combo on the Bonneville. If you pass on it, let me know, I may be interested in it. I'd love to see more pics of it too.

Did you get the 70 bonneville? I had one once, had lots of power and plenty of speed...the kind that makes your feet tremble once you get out of it.Tried topping it out once; roads around here were not long enougth nor straight enougth to do so if you get my drift

Jeff, I was born and raised about 30 miles south of Pittsburgh, in a little town called Charleroi. It's on the Mon river. Anyways, I always had a big Pontiac to cruise daily, so my TA could sit back then. Especialy in the winter. This'll be my first yacht in many years. I love those Land Yachts. I can't wait to cruise this thing!

Glad to see you bought (saved) the Bonneville. How 'bout posting some new pics of it?

Like you, I am a fan of Pontiac's big cars, I bought a 74 Grand Ville 455 4dr hardtop from the original owner for $450! Transport added another $575, and tires, tune up, water pump, fluids, and a decent CD stereo system (installed without cutting up anything) brings the total to around $1500. It runs and drives great, has an immaculate interior, has zero rust, only needs the original paint re-done. I drive it daily.

By the way, even though I have lived in Indiana all my life, I am a diehard Steelers fan!! (even though this season isn't exactly one to cheer about) Here's a pic of the Grand Ville. Dave
