Anyone ever use a Firebird/Camaro front end bolt kit?
I purchased a Firebird/camaro front end bolt kit from a local resto shop awhile back and was trying to use it tonight. Well some of the bolts seem to big so I was wondering if anyone else has tried this? I was trying to use them to bolt in the headlight plates and I was not using any of the larger body bolts. Anybody got any ideas?

By larger do you mean longer ?? What you will find in some kits is this. The factory bolts came in special sizes. Some may be 1 3/16 long. But "normal" bolts are usually in 1/4 or 1/8 increments. So you will find some bolts anywhere from 1/16 to 1/8 longer. But they should be the same diameter and thread pattern if it's any kind of a kit.

Ive tried this a couple of times and sent them back
Now at square one again and redoing all the OEMs |
I tried a set for the Firebird, and it looked like they grabbed a bag full of bolts from Home Depot and threw them in there. Sent them back and ordered a front end kit for a Camaro from Rick' s. The kit worked out really well for the fender bolts and clips, but I ended up sand blasting and painting the ones you are talking about.

I bought a bag o' bolts from one of the parts houses on ebay - I think it was 1AAuto. The large bolts are fine thread, and I needed coarse thread bolts for the front end sheet metal. The smaller bolst worked fine.

I found this post and wanted to ask about the kit from Ricks. Is this the best kit out there? The posts are not clear about the headlight plate bolts although I dont think I need those. Is the kit from Ricks stainless? I would like to get a kit with at least good hardware for the fenders inner/outer and valance assemblies including the signal lamps and grills if possible. I'm not strictly concerned about originality just good quality.

The Rick's kit comes from www.amkproducts.com

the bolts are varied sizes for a reason. they go in different locations and so do the rubber bushings. check the diagram and it will spell out the instal for you!!
