My 76 T/A
 

I bought a black 76 T/A, 455, 4spd back in about '82. Never met the owner. The car had some performance mods: Headers, intake, carb, etc. I was in college at the time. The body was sound but it was in deparate need of a repaint. We did a poor backyard repaint job on it and it was off to college. One day after I got out of class I walked up to the car and found there was a note on the windshield. The note went something like this, "The car looks nice with the new paint job, it was the best 140+mph handling car I ever owned". The car did have some top speed; the 85mph speedo kept going right around so you could still gage what speed you were at. Funny thing, it had a switch mounted under the dash the would turn all the lights off except the 2 headlights. I wonder what kind of stories the car could tell.

You guys into the '76 SE T/As prepare to cry. My bother bought a '76 SE in '78 I believe. We are talking SE all the way. Black, 455, 4spd, T-tops, saddle interior. Loaded with A/C, stereo, 8track and all the power goodies. I can't think of anything it didn't have. It really was a beautiful car. It even had a functional shaker kit. Even that was done up real professional like. The shaker flapper had the same gold swirl turned treatment as the dash. He let me take it to my senior prom. Man, I was the envy of everyone. Now for the sad part. My brother sold it after a couple of years to a guy who totalled it soon afterward. My brother and I never new what he had until much later after research and I started my own restoration on my current T/A. We didn't even know that the functional shaker was non-stock since the car was ownly a couple years old and was done so professionally. Young, foolish, what a waste.

souds like a cool car - do you have any old photos of it?

I do believe I have some old photos of the 76 SE. If someone is really interested, I could attempt to scan them. I never did take any shots of mine.
