65 GTO History
Kinda new here and I could use a little help on researching my GTOs past. So far I have the PHS doc and the copy of the orginal window sticker saying the car was delivered to "Oakes Motor Company" in Oxford, NC. I also found a New York license plate EA1 99W, no year sticker, while replacing a quarter panel. The VIN on the car is 237375P107432. Original 389, 4 barrell, 4 speed.
I bought the car in Jersey in '03, the guy I bought it from didn't offer much help on it's past, which did scare me a little but so far the numbers match so it looks like a real one not a clone. I am doing a full frame off, so I spend most of my time (and money!!) on the car. Figure I can get into the history bit a little later, just thought if I could pick up a few tips here it would same me some time later. Appreciate anything anyone has to offer. |

what color combination is the new york plate? this will help narrow down the years

Red and white with the Statue of Liberty in the middle

ok, those plates were used from 1986-somewhere around 2000-2002. unfortunately that is one of the longest runs of plates that ny used. ny dmv doesn't keep records on anything that hasn't been registered in over 7 years i believe. had to have them re-instate the title for my lemans which had been off the road since 98 because the are automatically erased from the system.

Thanks. I kinda figured the tags were a dead end. I tried looking on ny's dmv site and didn't see anything too helpful. Still trying to run down the orginal dealer from the sticker info I got from PHS. Not a lot of luck there so far either.
