66 GTO DASH

HI ROBBIE
JUST FINISHED MY 66 FRAME OFF RESTO ,CHECK IT OUT AT FREDSGTO.COM
OUR HOST HAS THE VENEER WOOD GRAIN AS WELL AS THE ALUMINUM BACKING PLATE ,IF NEEDED,MAKE SURE YOU GET THE ADHESIVE TYPE VENEER AND NOT THE ONE WHERE YOU APPLY ADHESIVE THEN TRY TO SET THE VENEER ON IT. THE VENEER IS LITE ,NATURAL WOOD, SO YOU CAN STAIN IT ANY COLOR YOU WANT.FOR SURFACE PROTECTION I PUT 2 COATS OF CLEAR POLY U ON. IT CAME OUT BETTER THAN SHOWROOM.
AS FOR THE DASH INSERT,I HAD MINE REDONE WHERE THEY MAKE ANY REPAIRS NEEDED AND RECHROME THE BEZELS AND PAINT THE INSERT.HAD MINE DONE AT C.V VACUUM PLATERS IN VANCOUVER B.C. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEM,NOT BECAUSE OF THE WORK IT WAS EXCELLANT, BUT BECAUSE IT'S OUT OF THE COUNTRY. THEY LOST MY INSERT FOR 3 WEEKS AND THEIR COMPLETION PROMISE IS NO GOOD.I SINCE FOUND OUT THAT THERE ARE PLACES IN THE STATES THAT DO EXCELLANT WORK.
I WILL CHECK OUT MY DASH LITE DIAGRAM AND GET BACK TO YOU ON THE LITES.ONE OF THE OTHER GUYS MAY KNOW ALSO.
GOOD LUCK
FRED
STILL SPENDIN MONEY HAVIN FUN GOT ER DONE

Robbie, I used c.v. vaccum platers also. The work was good and turn around time was ok, then again you have to plan ahead and allow for delays. Someone from this site recommended to stain the wood veneer with tung oil, from the hardware store, which I did. Turned out nice, lighter than your picture. The more coats, the darker. Also, the glare from the bezels is probably a new plastic lens. Larry.

robbie9999, on the picture you posted, the insides of the gauge pods are not painted as they should be, that's why they look so bright.

hhmmm

the inside is suppose to be black ? correct

cause I think this one is all chrome inside or a bright silver

do you know how many bulbs are in the dash and what kind I want to replace them all ...

Sincerely - thanks guys for the info really helping out

Yes the inside f the gauge tunnels on a 66 GTO are supposed to be black. Steel blue on a 67.
