Here is yet another reason that you can't take new parts for granted.

I receieved the Eagle stroker kit for the Pontiac 455. As a whole, the kit is a nice deal. BBC H-beam rods, SRP forged 4032 pistons (available only through Eagle), Perfect Circle moly race rings, etc. The crank is a cast steel unit with BBC rod journal sizing, 4.250" stroke.

The crank is where the problem is. Both the rod journals and main journals measure too big near journal radii. The journals measure fine in the middle, but get near (not into) the radius area and they mike .001" to .0035" over the high limit. If the rods sized to the low side, it is possible that the crank would not even turn.

I contacted Eagle and they were very good about it. They requested that I send the crank back (they would credit me the shipping) and they would send another. I couldn't ask for more than that. But what I am doing is sending the crank I have to my trusted crank grinder to grind the crank properly and Eagle will send me the appropriate bearings.

As I have said before, these type of kits are good deals, but the devil is in the details........

I also just received an Eagle stroker kit for a 455. The crank is a cast steel unit with BBC rod journal sizing, 4.250" stroke . Haven't gotten to the crank yet but I did have to hone all the pin bushings as the pins wouldn't go in, let alone float. I would buy one again and still check all the critical dimensions.

My Eagle crank was one of the early ones that Butler had when the price was $499....The balance guy caught 4 equally spaced flat spots on the rear main journal as if it were clamped there that could only be seen by eye if you were really looking for them.

just had same problem with an eagle crank had it cut 10/10 rods and mains and then nitrided used eagle stuff on other brands as well and had prolems

dunno how many times it's been said, but chinese stuff has QC issues; trust nothing, check everything.
when you least expect it....expect it.
i just got a kit in for a sbc stroker that needed all 8 slugs to be r&r off the rods to clean up the small end burrs.

As I understand it, the cranks are cast/forged in China but they are machined in the USA.
